NASA scrambled someone out to pad 39A with a new sign that has orbiter Endeavour's name spelled correctly.A photo with the correct spelling was also posted on the Kennedy Space Center's Web site.
The orbiter is named after HM Bark Endeavour, the ship commanded by 18th century explorer James Cook; the name also honored Endeavour, the Command Module of Apollo 15. This is why the name is spelled in the British English manner, according to Answers.com."

lightning strikes ipod users
the associated press has written an article about a collection of people who have suffered injuries from being struck by lightning while using their ipod. some of the people interviewed were outside, near a tree, and sometimes not even close to the said tree, and the bolt still made contact. the most common injuries reported are ruptured ear drums and burns where the device was placed, (headphones, the wire, and ipod unit would leave burns).
however, there is history of these incidents happening with other electronic devices, such as pagers and cell phones.

some guy in oregon flies 193 miles in lawn chair
last weekend, kent couch attached 105 balloons to his lawnchair, along with a parachute, food and a bebe gun. he was headed to idaho. couch also attached gallons of water with a spigot so he could release water if he wanted the balloon to go up. he eventually landed just short of idaho and his wife was following in her car below him. read all the details here.
